FISHING GUIDE / Where to fish with a hook in Durrës, a rare guide for amateur fishermen

A rare guide with at least 44 fishing spots has been prepared and published on social networks in recent days. The guide contains the 'location' for each of these fishing spots and meanwhile provides ample information about the fish or other marine species that can be fished in each of them.

Guide has been published in Facebook in albania and english, in Instagram in albanian and english as well as in You Tube.

It also includes the rules of recreational and tourist fishing, thus marking the first time when such a document is put at the service of fishing tourists.

The guide was compiled by the Center for Transparency and Freedom of Information and supported by UNDP Albania.

In addition to fishing data, the guide offers through videos and photos wonderful views of the area, many of which are rarely visited by residents or tourists, while you can also discover traditional fishing methods but also those adapted through 'an innovation' that does not it would come to your mind.

Below is the recreational (amateur) fishing guide for the coast of the Durrës region.

Durres County recreational fishing destinations

Near Shpresimi Hotel, Bishti i Palles

The fishing destination is located 11.3 km away from Durrës city and can be reached by car in 24 minutes. While from Tirana it is 48.5 km and it takes 1 hour. It is 39 km from Rinas Airport and the ride takes 45 minutes. It is located in Bishtin e Palles, a cape that stretches from Currilat to near the Sektori Rinia, creating a marshy bay that is also liked by a number of migratory birds.

Spot Portez beach

The destination Portëz is 10.2 km away from Durrës city, a 23-minute drive. While from Tirana city it is 47.7 km away and it takes 59 minutes drive. It is 37.8 km away from Rinas Airport and it takes 43 minutes by car. To go from Durrës city you can follow the road to Porto Romano that passes behind the hills of Currilave, then continue to Shen Pali street, and turn left after 5 km of road or 12 minutes of walking.

Spot 3 opposite to Shtodheri street (on the top of the mountain-Bishti i Palles)

It is one of the most secret fishing spots in the southern area of Bishti i Palles. To get there you have to take a not asphalted road through a flat prairie then up the hill. At the top of the hill you have to leave the car and walk on foot through a slightly open path between bushes and tall grass as seen in the photo.

Fishing spot near RTC (Royal Trade Company)

Nearly 300 meters from Shen Pali road to the left (south), a path that can be covered in 4 minutes on foot is another point of recreational fishing. The distance from Tirana city is 46.6 km away and it takes 55 minutes, while from Rinas Airport is 36.8 km and is reached by car in 39 minutes.

Embankment or the potholes of Bishti i Palles

It is the embankment that starts about 900 meters to the right of the Shen Pali road in Bishtin e Palles. The distance from Tirana city is 47.2 km away and it can be reached in 51 minutes, while from Rinas Airport is 37.4 km away and it takes 40 minutes to drive.

Sektori Rinia, near Fishland restaurant

This fishing destination is in an urbanized area, the Sektori Rinia, while as in the case of the destination in the embankment of potholes of Bishti to Palla, it is located in the lagoon of the Sektori Rinia (it can be found with other names as well as the Durrës lagoon, Bisht Kamza lagoon, Fllaka lagoon).
