Durrës

This fishing destination is in an urbanized area, the Sektori Rinia, while as in the case of the destination in the embankment of potholes of Bishti to Palla, it is located in the lagoon of the Sektori Rinia (it can be found with other names as well as the Durrës lagoon, Bisht Kamza lagoon, Fllaka lagoon). What stands out here is that the lagoon is affected by construction activities and also a road has been stretched along it, which leads to the beaches and restaurants next to it. The lagoon is filled with fresh water from the Durrës River and salt water from the Adriatic Sea. In winter, water inundates part of the roads that cross the lagoon, while from September the migration period of some of the bird species of this area begins.

It is one of the most preferable and diverse areas for the presence of migratory aquatic birds in the whole country. Bird watching tourism is another reason that can bring you to Sektori Rinia, across the lagoon.

Here you can see how they go hobs fishing (kariq), with wells set up along the road that leads to the beach. Hobs are hand-made fishing nets in still waters. The net is fixed in its four corners through several wires or twines tied together with a 3-4 meter long stick that can be metal or wooden. The fishing rod itself rests on a support fixed to the ground, allowing the net to be lowered and raised periodically while the fish rests in the net. The net itself is managed through a rope held in the hands of a fisherman. Hobs, or as it is called karriq further north, is a fishing in miniature of larger formats of nets such as kalimera (suspended nets) and bilanci (big suspended nets).

The distance from Tirana city is 45.2 km and it takes 47 minutes to drive there, while from Rinas Airport it is 35.4 km and it takes 37 minutes to drive. To come from Tirana city and Rinas Airport you must follow the Tirana-Durrës highway and then take the Rrashbulli overpass. The distance from Durrës city is 11.2 km away and can be reached by car in 17 minutes.
