At the end of Shengjin Kune road is the most popular destination in the north of the country for recreational and sport fishing.

The distance from Tirana city is 73 km away or 1 hour and 17 minutes by car, 51.8 km from Rinas Airport or 56 minutes by car. It is also 10.1 km away from Lezha city and takes 19 minutes by car. To get to the destination from Trana and Rinas, follow the road to Lezha, a few meters before entering the town of Lezha, turn left towards Shengjin and before entering Shengjin, turn left again towards Kune, continue towards the sea shore and then left again up to the end of the road near the bridge to the bar restaurant "Vila e peshkatarit" in Merxhan.

Kune lagoon (Merxhan), as part of the Kune-Vain lagoon complex, is located on the northern side of the Drin river that passes through Lezha city and runs into the sea right on the border between the two Kune and Vain lagoons.

Here you can catch fishes like flat head grey mullet, thick lip grey mullet, thin lip gray mullet, sea bream, bass, eel, common sole, white sea bream, bogue, pipefish, shrimp and blue crab. Its depth does not exceed 1 meter and often fishermen choose to enter the water to explore areas further away from the coast. While fishing you can see flocks of numerous migratory aquatic birds, while at dusk you can enjoy the sunset through a wonderful view. After fishing, you can go bike riding or hiking, or even you can go swimming, and if you want to enjoy the night as close to nature as possible, choose one of the camping sites located along the 6 km road that connects Shengjin to Kuna. This destination it is not frequented by beach goers, so it can be visited for fishing in any time of the year. Meanwhile, the variety of restaurants, fast food, bars provides ample opportunities to choose the meal with fish or other products of the area. Again, here you can have grilled fish, or traditional food, besides the Italian and Greek cuisine.

What to visit in Lezha city

Skenderbeu” Tomb

The burial place was built in the church of Shen Kolli, where Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu was buried in 1468. In 1478, the Turks conquered Lezha and destroyed the tomb of Gjergj Kastriot, who had died on January 17, 1468. They took his remains as a talisman of indestructibility in battles. The memorial you visit was built in 1981. The bust of Skenderbeu was made by the well-known sculptor Odhise Paskali. A replica of the bronze sword and helmet are placed on the marble slab, while the originals are kept in Austria. Inside the walls there is a row of shields with the emblems of the tribes that participated in the League of Lezha and the battles that were won by Skënderbeu during the 25 years he was in charge of Arberia. Lezha Castle

Lezha Castle is built on the foundations of the ancient Acropolis and it is believed that its construction dates back to the 8th century. The castle has known many phases of construction, to arrive at the last one in 1520, by Sultan Selim I. In the historical and archaeological literature, the castle of Lezha has been known for a long time under the name Elison's Castle. In 2002, after the restoration of the foundations of the medieval castle, it was noticed that the thickness of the walls reached up to 4.30 meters. Till now, 12 gates and 48 defensive towers have been discovered.

Ethnographic Museum

The ethnographic museum in Lezha city has about 300 different objects, medieval weaponries, musical instruments, agricultural and handicraft tools, traditional hand-made clothing of zadrimor, kallmetor and mirditor zones.

Shen Premte Church, Balldre:

The church is located in the village of Balldre about 5 km away from Lezha city and dates back to the 12th - 13th century, among the few churches in Albania that have survived the destruction of the Ottoman era and communism period. The special feature of this church is the "Last Supper" fresco, which is thought to have been painted two centuries earlier than Leonardo Da Vinci painted it.

Church of Shen Eufemia, Kallmet

This church is in the village of Kallmet, about 12 km from the city of Lezha. The church is mentioned for the first time in 1343. Inside it, on the side of the rock on which the church rests, is the image of Shen Eufemia, while inside the church water flows from a spring which is considered by Catholic believers as cleansing and blessing water.

Church of Zojes Nunciata, Lezha

The Church and Monastery Complex of Zojes Nunciatë is located in the Mother Teresa neighborhood in Lezha city. In the 13th century, Saint Francis of Assisi, during his return from the Holy Land in 1219 - 1220, stopover in Lezhë, where he founded the first Franciscan Convention in Albania.
