This destination is at the edge of the Juba marsh, a few hundred meters away from the pine forest, at the confluence of Erzen River, which runs through the villages of Tirana and Durrës and finally runs into the Adriatic Sea. The distance from Tirana city is 42.6 km away or a 47 minutes ride, while from Rinas Airport it is 34 km and it takes 42 minutes to drive. To come from Tirana city and Rinas Airport you must follow the Tirana-Durrës highway and then take the Rrashbulli overpass.
The distance from Durrës city is 17 km or 22 minutes by car. It is located in a very beautiful area, with a landscape dotted along the winding river near the coast with large fishing nets (bilance) stretched in the air, along the Erzen River for several hundred meters. It is one of the most favorite places for fishing with a hook, but also for searching for crustaceans, especially vongola. Also shrimps are caught through several tube-shaped nets. Meanwhile the area is rich in fish such as bream, sea bass, mullet, red mullet, anchovy, common sole, blue crab, turbot/rombo, etc. The abundant nourishment attracts them to the mouth of the river, making the area preferable by professional fishermen who fish with traditional equipments such as hobs or small nets, but also with boats equipped with fishing nets.
There are no holyday makers around, so the area has no restrictions on fishing hours, but during summer time this destination can be reached more easily. When the rainy season starts and the water level of the river rises, part of the paths that lead to the estuary are flooded and waterproof equipment must be put on while walking along the area that has about 20-30 cm of water. The area where the destination stands is isolated and you should be prepared to have water and food with you, if you plan fishing for extended hours. Always bearing in mind that night fishing is prohibited on the seashore.
Note: In the Erzen River, you can go fishing along its entire length. It contains a variety of fish such as: carp, catfish, common sole, nile perch fish and large eels that weight from 200 g to 2 kg.
