It is one of the most popular fishing destinations in the Lezha area throughout the year. A pier up to 700 meters deep into the sea in Shengjin city is the ideal place of many old and young amateur fishermen. Almost any time of the day and hour, people with fishing rods, on one of the longest piers in Albania are seen fishing there.
This destination is 7 minutes within walking distance from the center of Shengjin town. You have to fish from the east side of the pier as strong winds start in the afternoon and can distract you while fishing if you sit on the west side of it.
The distance from Tirana city is 64.2 km or 1 hour and 6 minutes by car. It is 50.2 km from Rinas Airport or 48 minutes by car.
It is 8.5 km from Lezha city and takes 16 minutes by car. You can fish here bream, sea bass, bogue, anchovy, white sea bream, pipefish, buccichi”s goby, garfish, palimiti as well as blue crab and octopus.
The water under the pier is the adequate habitat for octopuses. They can be lured with a short tube about 1 meter with a diameter of about 10 cm. The octopus retreats from its burrows and sees the tube as an opportunity to hide and attack its prey.
As baits you can use what the local fishermen offer, live worms collected from the marsh sands in both Kune-Vain and Patok. A box costs 400-500 ALL. While you are fishing, you have the entire coast of Shengjin and a part of the city, including the western side of the Kunes lagoon, a combination of the mountain, the lagoon, the sea, the forest, within a relatively small space. Along the pier there is also a bar that serves throughout the day. There are no vacationers in this area and it is all dedicated to walking, fishing and contemplating. On the other side of the pier is the Fishing Harbor where small ships and fishing boats are anchored.
The town of Shengjin and the beaches around it have the best fish restaurants in Albania, and with good prices. There is a variety of fresh fish, caught in the waters surrounding the city, served in all restaurants. You can taste shrimp crudo, sea bass crudo or octopus, sea bass at reasonable prices, pasta with blue crab juice, pasta with shrimp, cuttlefish, squid, or shellfish such as mussels and clams, boiled blue crabs, grilled octopus, hot and cold seafood salad, a mixture of fish for only 15 euros, which includes red mullet, cod, anchovy, white sea bream, sea bass or any oven baked fish or eel with rice or spaghetti at a price that does not exceed 8 euro.
